Lighting Designer

Giovanna Yate Gonzalez is a Colombian professional dancer and teacher with over 10 years of experience in the performing arts industry. She has expanded her skill set and knowledge in Australia, completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).

She has participated in various performances and projects in Australia. For example, not only as the lighting designer for the play The Book of Everything, directed by Ryan Bentley, in 2019, but also as a dancer and media artist in the Isolation Improvisation Collective as well as several visual projects with visual artist Paul Fletcher.

Previous recent works include the lighting design for the interdisciplinary dance project 10 degrees, in Martyn Myer Arena, and the musical Sweet Charity in Space 28 at VCA. Furthermore, a collaborative lighting installation, Talk to Me, with musician Monica Lim at the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre.
